Ripple Partners with Donors Choose and Teach For America
Ripple, a leading digital asset infrastructure provider, has pledged $25 million to support teachers and students across the United States. The donation, primarily made through Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD (Ripple USD), will be distributed via education-focused non-profits DonorsChoose and Teach For America.
This initiative aims to equip classrooms with critical resources, enhance educational outcomes, and prepare students for a rapidly changing economy. It marks the first major educational donation to be delivered predominantly using a stablecoin, showcasing the growing utility of crypto-enabled payments in philanthropic work.
Bridging the Education Funding Gap
According to a 2024 Gallup survey, 55% of American parents and adults expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of K–12 education. With many teachers facing funding shortages and spending their own money on classroom supplies, Ripple’s donation comes at a crucial time.
“Ripple has always championed financial and educational access for all,” said Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. “By teaming up with DonorsChoose and Teach For America, we’re helping thousands of classrooms get the resources they need to inspire the next generation.”
Ripple’s contribution will fund projects during Teacher Appreciation Week, support Teach For America’s nationwide Ignite tutoring initiative, and help launch a national STEM Innovation Challenge.
Crypto in the Classroom
In a notable move, both partner organisations will accept the majority of the funding in RLUSD, Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin. This reflects the broader trend of stablecoins becoming the dominant form of crypto-based payments, now representing over half of all on-chain transactions, according to recent Chainalysis data.
By leveraging blockchain infrastructure and platforms like The Giving Block, Ripple’s philanthropic model showcases how digital assets can streamline charitable giving and increase financial transparency.
Empowering Teachers and Students
Alix Guerrier, CEO of DonorsChoose, highlighted the everyday challenges faced by educators. “Teachers are often covering classroom costs out of pocket. Ripple’s support means students will gain access to learning materials that set them up for long-term success.”
Aneesh Sohoni, CEO of Teach For America, also praised the donation. “This funding will expand our tutoring programmes, support innovation, and assist new corps members financially. Ripple’s backing strengthens our mission to ensure every child can access quality education.”
A History of Giving
This latest initiative builds on Ripple’s ongoing commitment to social impact. Since 2018, the company has donated over $200 million to global causes, with nearly 80% of employees involved in volunteering and donation efforts. Its University Blockchain Research Initiative further reflects its aim to blend technology, education, and financial empowerment on a global scale.
With this new partnership, Ripple continues demonstrating how crypto innovation can be harnessed for real-world solutions in education and beyond.
